I’ve been meaning to mention this amazing band for quite some time. I’ve discovered them a while back and just favourited this video with the idea of coming back later and check them out with a proper release. Can’t believe it took me that long.
果味vc or Super VC hail from Beijing and are actually quite accomplished musicians, held in high regard by media and fans. They’re often compared to a lot of big British rock and alternative bands, but that is something you’ll have to see/hear for yourself ;)
They’ve been active since 1993 and have about five album releases under their belt. Not sure about the last one, because I found different information at various sites and their official one hasn’t been updated since 2009. Anyway..
Super VC have a very distinctive, kind of fluid, soothing sound. The album I have and have been listening to extensively lately is called “Great Restoration”. The track q未删节版 above is probably the most rock oriented one on it. What stands out as a whole is that there are a lot of rhythm progressions and melody build-ups that intertwine way too beautifully not be swayed right away. The quirky music and vocal arrangements, that are done really well, is what impressed me the most, very fresh, not overdone and just the right amount of groove to go along with that.
Their tunes are indeed overwhelming and give off a mellow feeling, suggesting a swaying, lighter-waving atmosphere. Just beautiful.
